Sure it’s still a week away, but Valentines Day + beer in the Lower Mainland is a big deal. A hot tamale. The bees knees. In our opinion beer IS love and when you can share one with someone you love, it’s just a perfect match. Here’s a few ideas to mull over and grab tickets for if you’re still looking for a way to show you care…
Vancouver Brewery Tours has a little something extra amazing planned for the Valentines Weekend. Labelled as a “romantic, beer-filled excursion” they will take you to visit 3 local craft breweries. If that wasn’t enough, there’s going to Thomas Haas chocolates available too (mind blowing decadence). The tour is approximately 3.5 hours and includes behind the scenes, pairings and a guaranteed seat in the always hopping tasting rooms.
Vine & Hops is offering up a tour as well on February 14th from 12-3 pm. A particularly cool little tidbit is you can save 10% by using the code: BEERLOVE.
The always fun Storm Brewing is hosting their “Beer our Valentine” on Friday, February 12th from 6-9 pm. Ice cream beer floats (yes, you read that right), unique brews, growler fills and the wonderfully zany vibe that is Storm Brewing all rolled into one event!
Organic Love, anyone? Dogwood Brewing is holding their 1st love-fest “Organic Love-Sweet Treats Pairing” on February 14th from 7:30 – 9 pm. Four beer pairings (including a rose petal infused cask) are included in the amazing $25.00 ticket. We’ve said it before, and we firmly believe it, beer + chocolate is a certain kind of heaven.
Bitter Tasting Room on West Hastings is having a unique event on Saturday, February 13th, “Bitter Sweet Valentines Refugee Fundraiser.” They will be pairing local craft beers with tapas AND desserts. Proceeds will go to the UN Refugee Agency in Canada. If you’re a sucker for a gorgeous space and a curved bar, check out this place.
So while it’s not a Valentines event in particular, the grand opening of Langley’s Trading Post Brewery just so happens to fall on February 13th! Sounds kind of lovey-dovey to us and great timing. Rumor has it there’s a beer swap, entertainment and more…
I was at Bomber Brewing the other night and noticed a few bottles left still of the Choqlette available, As a physical love letter to his wife, owner/operator Don Farion created this beer to showcase his love. Read our review here for the entire romantic, get ready to swoon, story. If you can get yours hands on this stuff, do it. **AT TIME OF POSTING IT’S STILL POURING IN THE TASTING ROOM TOO**
In Victoria? You should probably go to “For the Love of Dark Beer & Chocolate” at the Drake Eatery then on February 13th. Seriously, 6 food pairings of chocolate and beer; both sweet and savory. Do we need to say more?
